Rishikesh is one of India’s best-known white-water rafting destinations, with several put-in points along the Ganga offering stretches suited to everyone from first-timers to experienced rafters chasing bigger rapids.

Brahmapuri to Rishikesh — the beginner run

At around 9 km and Grade I-II, this is the shortest and gentlest stretch, taking about an hour on the water. It’s the standard choice for families, first-timers and anyone short on time.

Marine Drive to Rishikesh

A step up at roughly 12 km with Grade II-III rapids, offering more excitement than Brahmapuri without stepping into the more technical rapids further upstream.

Shivpuri to Rishikesh — the popular middle ground

Around 16 km with Grade III rapids, this is one of the most popular runs for travellers wanting a genuine white-water experience without the full-day commitment of the longest stretch.

Kaudiyala to Rishikesh — the full run

The longest commonly run stretch at around 26 km, including several Grade III-IV rapids and taking most of a day. Best suited to those with some prior rafting experience or a higher appetite for bigger water.

Season and safety

Rafting generally runs from around mid-September through June, pausing during the monsoon when the river’s flow and debris make it unsafe. All runs include a safety briefing, life jackets and helmets, and are led by trained guides — tell us your group’s comfort level and we’ll match you to the right stretch.
