The zip line near Rishikesh — often marketed as a “flying fox” — runs across a river valley on a steel cable roughly a kilometre long, giving riders a fast, birds-eye pass over the gorge below.
What the ride is like
Riders are clipped into a full-body harness connected to a pulley system on the cable. Once launched, gravity and the line’s incline carry you across the valley, with speeds that can reach 80-100 km/h on the fastest stretches depending on body weight and wind conditions.
Safety
Equipment is checked before every ride, and trained staff manage both the launch platform and the landing point. No prior experience or particular fitness is needed — the harness and cable do the work.
What to expect on the day
A typical session, including safety briefing, gearing up and the ride itself, takes 1-2 hours once travel to the site is factored in.
